Ryan Leonard: 2023 NHL DRAFT PROSPECT

Leonard is a hard-nosed player who can score and has the kind of character to battle through adversity. He is excellent at using his strength and physicality to his advantage. The guy attacks the offensive zone with speed and power while still showing the skill to dangle opponents. Leonard pulls teammates into the fight with his tenacious bulldog, competitive, go get’er tiger style of play. Ryan has shown sound defensive decision making as much as anyone, including the NTDP’s top-line players.

Ryan stands at almost 6 feet tall and weighs in at 192 lbs. Maybe not overly big but is a legit powered forward. After scoring 51 goals this last season, he has proved he has the scoring ability as well as a good sense of how to find the good scoring areas.”

His positional play requires time to improve but pro training will likely change that with good solid coaching. He has good speed, skill and physicality all wrapped into one. What’s not to like about this player? His Hockey IQ is right up there to compensate for mistakes he may make at some time. Learns quick from his mistakes.

PROJECTION: A future 2nd line RW in the NHL, who I see as the 10th best player in this years 2023 NHL Entry draft (with the understanding he could have been as high as #5 on my REVS TOP 15,  had I had more looks at him earlier in the season.)
