Hey everyone, hope you are doing well. Tonight, we are back at it for another great Episode 13 of Season 7 of Two Guys & Hockey Talk, where we dive into the stories around the world of hockey. It’s been a busy few days as the NHL season is well underway and we have some stories from the past week:
- Carter Hart makes his NHL debut – Carter Hart has returned back to the NHL in nearly a 2 year absence, as he helped the team lead the Vegas Golden Knights past Chicago Blackhawks in a 4–3 shootout win for Vegas making 27 saves. It marked his return following legal proceedings earlier in 2025 and was met with a positive reaction from Golden Knights fans and his teammates.
- Jesper Wallstedt named NHL “Rookie of the Month” – Speaking of incredible goaltending, Jesper Wallstedt of the Minnesota Wild posted a perfect 6-0-0 record in November, with a 1.14 goals-against average and a .967 save percentage, including three shutouts — putting him among the early-season breakout goaltending stars. He is also coming off a win versus the Edmonton Oilers in a 1-0 game. He has been dynamite and has helped the Wild become a threat in the West along with the Central which has some of the big guns (Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars).
- Tyler Seguin Injured and Sidelined – It sounds like Tyler Seguin suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in the game versus the New York Rangers and that he is expected to miss the remainder of the 2025/26 season. The timing is especially tough as Seguin had just hit 1,000 NHL games this season (on October 30) and was potentially starting what could have been a stable run if healthy. This will be a loss for the Star as they face the New Jersey Devils tonight.
- Kyle Palmeri out Long-term – Some other injuries to note is Kyle Palmieri of the New York Islanders has been sidelined for 6–8 months with a torn ACL, a major blow to their offense. The injury occurred in the second period, after a collision and awkward fall into the boards, but not before Kyle had an incredible play to strip the puck and help his team score, earning an assist on the play. This is another loss for the team.
- Adam Fox Out – Adam Fox of the New York Rangers has also been placed on long-term injured reserve by the New York Rangers after suffering an upper-body injury after a check into the boards by Brandon Hagel during a recent game vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning. Fox will miss at least, even though he was having a strong season offensively, 3 goals and 23 assists, leading New York in points among defensemen. The Rangers will be without him for a while, but he should also be ready for Team USA for the Olympics.
- Cal Foote signed with the Chicago Wolves. Foote, a former NHL regular and one of the players acquitted in the 2018 junior-hockey trial, has signed an AHL contract with the Chicago Wolves. This deal makes him ineligible for NHL call-ups under its terms as we know the AHL continues to serve as a landing spot for players finishing stints in juniors, college or Europe, as clubs rework depth and development ahead of the NHL season.
- PWHL players of the Month – So far in the early 2025-26 PWL, some of the top players to keep an eye out for are: Taylor Girard of the New York Sirens, who scored a hat trick, her first in her PWHL career, including three goals in a single period, Claire Thompson of the Vancouver Goldeneyes, who scored and assisted in back-to-back games and extended her point streak into the new season and Aerin Frankel, the goaltender for Boston Fleet who put up a .980 SV% and 0.50 GAA through first two starts; stellar early form in net. These are just some great players to keep an eye out for amongst others.
- An active KHL Season – The KHL has a busy slate this week: a full set of games between teams like Sibir Novosibirsk vs. Spartak Moscow, Ak Bars Kazan vs. Traktor Chelyabinsk, CSKA Moscow vs. Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, and others as clubs jockey for playoff positioning Some teams like Sibir Novosibirsk, are struggling this season and are battling to close a gap to playoff spots. Meanwhile other clubs like Ak Bars enter key games riding recent wins, trying to maintain strong standing in their conference.
