So, the chemistry’s set for the 2025-26 Boston Bruins. With the preseason wrapped and teams having finalized their rosters, it’s time to drop the puck for real. Coach Marco Sturm ran a very high energy camp, and it showed in the game play as the Bruins had a strong preseason. Boston finished strong compiling a record of 4-1-1. Jeremy Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo both had strong games and defensively the group locked it down. Now comes the hard part. Winning when it counts. While expectations aren’t as high as they normally are for the club, one thing is clear; This team wants to be a hard out. Given the names added this offseason and with returning vets like Nikita Zadorov hulking on the back end, the Bruins, should be just that.
GM Don Sweeney sent final cuts to Providence Monday, and the franchise was fortunate enough not to lose anyone to waivers. There had been much talk about Michael Dipietro and whether he would survive a waiver claim but he, along with everyone else, will be reporting to the baby B’s. Matthew Poitras and Matej Blumel are also AHL bound and on the outside looking in. In what is a bit of a surprise to many, neither player was able to establish themselves as strong middle six options during the preseason. In Poitras’ case, he needs to be playing every night. Fraser Minton won the third line center job and that leaves Poitras without enough available playing time on the Bruins. However, any player can find themselves back up with the big club in short notice. Injuries, slow starts or simple cap flexibly will all be factors as the season begins.
The now finalized roster consists of the league maximum 23 players. Sweeney has chosen to carry two extra forwards and given their jam-packed schedule (14 games in the first 25 days of the season), you can bet everyone will see some ice time.
According the Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic the Bruins lines appear ready to start in Washington Wednesday night.

Here comes the Bruins. A bridge year of sorts with tempered expectations. As President of Hockey Operations Cam Neely said Monday; “We’re gonna have to play tight defense if we’re gonna be one of the eight [in the playoffs].” Its defense first for this group. With the puck about to drop the Bruins, their new coach, front office and their fans all start a new chapter together. The roster is set, but like everything else, will be subject to change.
The Lookahead
Boston will open their season Wednesday October 8th in Washington. They then play their home opener the next night by hosting the Chicago BlackHawks. Saturday sees them welcome Atlantic division rival Buffalo to town, while Monday they host another divisional foe in Tampa Bay. A matinee game as Boston celebrates Columbus Day and us canucks enjoy Thanksgiving.
